Did you know that being on hormonal birth control can alter who you are attracted to?
Interestingly, hormonal birth control can alter your attractions and nudge you to be more attracted to people with similar genetics to you. From an ancestral health perspective, this is not good.
From a survival point a view, we are naturally designed to be attracted to people with genes that are more different from us in order to diversify the genes of our offspring and increase the resilience to sickness of our children.
Hormonal contraceptives can also leave you more prone to depression, low libido, anxiety, and weight gain by altering the delicate balance of your hormones (namely estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone).
In episode 75 of the Primal Example Podcast, Joe interviews reproductive health practitioner Lisa Hendrickson-Jack, author of The Fifth Vital Sign.
